Things have been extra crazy at GUD, but we think we've ironed out the last of the fires, and hatched the last of the battens. Thank you all for your patience with us while we get Issue 2 out the door.

So while we don't have them in hand yet, and as such we're not doing our HUGE RELEASE NOTIFICATION -- We've updated the website and make Issue 2 available for purchase--print, PDF, subscriptions, etc. And we'll be sending out PDF advance review copies shortly (might start on that tonight).

If you want to start spreading the word, it would be appreciated. :) Or at the very least, I didn't want you to be surprised if someone else happened to mention to you that the website has been updated to reflect Issue 2. :)

We've got graphics available if you want to use them here: http://www.gudmagazine.com/info/affiliate.php

And I've tried to make the table of contents page a little more readable, a little less overwhelming... as always, I'm open to suggestions. There's still strong rumors of a full site redesign happening in the next couple of months. :)

This is going to be our first big release with the Buy One Gift One PDF system, and I'm really looking forward to how that works out.

Oh, one thing I forgot to mention--the content really is available for purchase. Ordering PDF or Print will let whomever download the PDF as soon as the transaction clears (which is generally pretty much immediately, except for e-checks). :)

We've recently started interviewing our contributors--going to go through Issue 2 as best we can, then work back through Issues 0 and 1. We've posted two interviews so far--what do you think? Did you read them? Do you have any interest in reading them, or are we just doing this for ourselves? :)

Are we keeping you updated/entertained between issues? Hmm. Who are you, why are you here? And nice to meet you. :)

Any questions for us?

This is public service announcement take 1...

Any thoughts on a second? The thought is it's pluasibly a small viral thing that mentions/shows GUD, but doesn't SELL SELL SELL it, so people may reasonably want to share it.

This isn't going to happen today, tomorrow, or even this weekend. But maybe in a few weeks. I'm trying to concentrate (well, with this, which I'm trying _not_ to concentrate on right now) on the messaging of the site. Part of that is visual and part text--we're brainstorming how to better tell with words the prospective reader or writer what GUD is and what GUD is about; what someone might expect to find inside us in somewhat more concrete terms.

Meanwhile, visually, we really come across as some dark, surreal horror mag--or so it's been intimated to me, and the site _is_ a bit oppressive after a while.

So this is _one_ thought on where the design might go -- the spacing is all wrong, throughout (at least, it needs tweaking to get lines to where the eye wants them, that sort of thing), but I'm just trying to get an idea for what something could look like (and how to fit more information on the page).

This design, at default font size, adds about 100 pixels to the width of the site. If you could see the "Preview Issue 0" vertical banner... then you should see the entirety of this design, too. And I'm planning on making it respond more appropriately to font resizing -- sizing the page in terms of ems (essentially, making it so the line breaks happen at the same places, regardless of how big or small you make the font). That's the theory, anyway. On to the goods --

Any thoughts? :)

So... any thoughts on what we should do here? I mean, there's the blog we keep on-site, which syndicates onto lj as gud_staffblog and on myspace... but it just didn't seem right to not have a livejournal community as well.
